                        Sunday – John Rogers Hall

On the weekend of Nov. 3, almost 50 of the brightest aspiring litigators in this part of the country will visit The University of Tulsa for the American Bar Association’s Law Student Division Regional Negotiation Competition.

The two-day regional will consist of 24 teams from 12 regional law schools, including TU and the University of Oklahoma.

The event will be run by TU's Board of Advocates, which also hopes to continue a string of high finishes in order to have one of its teams qualify for the national tournament in Los Angeles in February 2008. Last season saw the competing law students from TU win several team and individual awards, including a third-place finish at the National Native American Law Competition.

It is a privilege for TU;s law school to host an event of this stature and law students of this caliber, Jarica Nipper, student officer of TU’s Board of Advocates said.

"It’s quite an honor to host an ABA regional event," said Nipper, a third-year law student. "Of course we have high hopes for our teams competing but there will certainly be a plenty of satisfaction from running the event well."

Law students administrating the event can be scheduled for comment and certain areas of the event, outside of competition rounds, will be open to members of the media. For more information contact Jimmy Hart in TU University Relations at (918) 631-2568.
