John Rogers Hall (8:30am-3pm) and Mabee Gym (2pm-10pm)
The University of Tulsa College of Law is hosting a Native American Pre Law Day and Native Justice Powwow on Saturday, February 24, from 8:30 am to 10:00 p.m. The pre law day and powwow, made possible through a grant from the Law School Admission Council, are being co-sponsored by the University of Tulsa College of Law, Oklahoma City University School of Law, the Oklahoma Indian Bar Association, and the University of Oklahoma College of Law.
The pre law day will be held in John Rogers Hall from 8:30 am. until 3:00 p.m. This event is intended to introduce college students and seniors in high school to the study of law, with the goal of encouraging more Indian students to consider law as a career. Participants will receive valuable information about opportunities to study Native American law at each of the Oklahoma law schools, as well as information about the admissions process and financing a legal education. A limited number of scholarships are available to assist with travel costs for students outside easy driving distance from Tulsa. Advanced registration is required. For more information, contact Assistant Dean Martha Cordell at 918.631.2406 or martha-cordell@utulsa.edu. To request a registration form, contact Kim Fryer at 918.631.5604 or kim-fryer@utulsa.edu.
Following the Native American Pre Law Day, all pre law attendees, their families, the Native American community, and others interested in attending a traditional powwow, are invited to attend the University of Tulsa's second annual Native Justice Powwow from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. in the Mabee Gym on the University of Tulsa campus. The Native Justice Powwow will honor tribal attorneys, police and court personnel. For more information about the powwow, contact Candice Freeman at candice-freeman@utulsa.edu.
