The University of Tulsa College of Law will host Kayla Shell as Distinguished Alumna in Residence on Feb. 5 for a noon lecture and evening reception. Shell will speak in room 202 at John Rogers Hall, 3120 E. Fourth Place, at 12:15 p.m. She will share her insights about why she chose to work in-house at a large corporation and her experiences at two Fortune 100 companies. Her speech will be open to students, alumni, and faculty.

Shell will speak in room 202 at John Rogers Hall, 3120 E. Fourth Place, at 12:15 p.m. She will share her insights about why she chose to work in-house at a large corporation and her experiences at two Fortune 100 companies. Her speech will be open to students, alumni, and faculty.
Her selection as Distinguished Alumna in Residence will be celebrated during a reception at the law school from 5 – 7 p.m. The reception is free and open to the public.
Shell, who received her J.D. in 1988, is the legal director at Dell Inc. supporting the company’s Corporate/Global Sales divisions and the Software and Peripherals Sales division. She has been with Dell since May 1998 and previously worked for Shell Oil Company in Houston. Her areas of practice are commercial transactions, sales, trade regulation, marketing, advertising and e-commerce. During law school, Shell served as a Notes and Comments Editor of the Tulsa Law Journal and as President of the Women’s Law Caucus.
Shell currently serves as chair of the Legal Education Committee, chair of the Executive Advisory Board of Dell’s Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) Diversity Network and was recently featured in the Profiles in Diversity Journal’s 6th Annual Women Worth Watching Issue for 2008. She lives in Austin, Tex., and her community involvement includes the Board of Directors for Out and Equal Workplace Advocates and Federal Council Member of the Human Rights Campaign.
