Associate Justice of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation of Oklahoma Supreme Court Denette Mouser has been selected to serve as Distinguished Practitioner in Residence at The University of Tulsa College of Law.

A noon lecture by the justice will be held in room 202 of John Rogers Hall, 3120 E. Fourth Place, on Jan. 17. Mouser's speech will focus on the different career paths open to lawyers. Her selection as Distinguished Practitioner in Residence will be celebrated during a reception at the law school from 5 – 7 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.

Mouser, originally from Tulsa, received her J.D. with honors in 1999 from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and joined the legal team at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. in 2002. She currently serves as assistant general counsel for the company's class action division, which manages the defense of statewide and nationwide class actions.

In May 2005, she was appointed to the Muscogee (Creek) National Supreme Court. She served as chief justice for two years before stepping aside in October 2007 to become an associate justice.
