The Tulsa Minority Mentoring Taskforce - a cooperative effort of law school staff and faculty, TU law alumni and practicing attorneys - hopes to network minority law students with practicing public-sector attorneys and judges.
Minority law students at The University of Tulsa College of Law will have an opportunity on March 27 to network with alumni and legal professionals at "Bridging the Gap," an event sponsored by the law school’s Alumni Association Diversity Committee and the Tulsa Minority Mentoring Taskforce.
The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the President’s Lounge at TU's Allen Chapman Activity Center. The program will consist of five presentations by judges and attorneys who practice in the public sector. They will describe their work settings and how public sector employers recruit potential hires.
The presentations will be followed by a time for questions. Featured speakers include:
- The Honorable Claire Eagan, Chief Judge U.S. District Court, Northern District of Oklahoma;
- The Honorable Wilma Palmer, Special Judge, Tulsa County District Court;
- Pete Silva Jr., Chief Public Defender, Tulsa County;
- Jim Brandon, Chief of Staff for the Office of the District Attorney, Tulsa County;
- Brian P. Utsey, Esq., LL.M., Attorney, Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community Legal Services Offices;
- Loretta F. Radford, Assistant United States Attorney, Northern District of Oklahoma.
Advanced registration is preferred to ensure seating. For more information on "Bridging the Gap," contact Muriel Hakim at (918) 631-3320 or muriel-hakim@utulsa.edu.
