The first three sets described below (Consolidated Treaty Series, League of Nations Treaty Series, and United Nations Treaty Series) represent an attempt to provide access to the text of treaties from 1648-to date. Since all three sets are incomplete, users may have to consult other international collections such as those produced by organizations such as the Council of Europe, the Organization of American States, etc.

    1. Consolidated Treaty Series.* Edited and annotated by Clive Parry. (Published 1969-1981)

        Edited by Clive Parry. This collection of photographically reproduced treaties covers the years 1648- to "the commencement of the League of Nations Treaty Series (approximately 1918-1920)." There are currently 231 volumes in the set. This is an attempt to reprint the original text and official translations of all international treaties signed in this time period.

        These treaties were compiled between 1920 and 1944.

        The United Nations Treaty Series is the official publication of the full text of treaties and international agreements registered or filed and recorded with the Secretariat of the United Nations. (MLIC has 1946-to date in microfiche (incomplete); MLIC also has in print from 1971-1974 (incomplete))*

    4 . Council of Europe. European Conventions and Agreements (Council of Europe). 1946-

        This publication has the texts of international treaties concluded within the Council of Europe. The treaties in this set are reproductions of the original conventions and agreements which appear in the Council of Europe"s official reporter: The European Treaty Series.

    5. Multilateral Treaties Deposited With the Secretary-General

        This publication gives information on the status of major multilateral instruments deposited with the Secretary-General of the United Nations. This publication shows the status of instruments as Member States sign, ratify, make objections or reservations, etc. The print volume is published annually.*

    6. Bowman, M.J. Multilateral Treaties: Index and Current Status/ Compiled and annotated..by M. J. Bowman and D.J. Harris

        This publication has status information about multilateral treaties which the compilers consider to be important treaties. Treaties are included regardless of whether or not they are in force. A useful feature are the summaries of the contents of each treaty. The MLIC only has the cumulative supplement. The MLIC does not own the base volume, which is out of print.

    7. International Legal Materials.* 1962-

        This is an excellent source for locating the text of current treaties, conventions, etc. Texts of treaties and other international documents often appear here before they are published in other sources. May find copies of draft treaties reproduced in this publication. Also contains a section reporting recent treaty actions. (MLIC has from vol.1, 1962-to date)
