MLIC DIRECTOR HONORED BY HIS UNDERGRADUATE UNIVERSITY
A big CONGRATULATIONS to MLIC Director and Associate Professor of Law, Richard Ducey! Professor Ducey was recently selected for one of his undergraduate university's Centennial Awards for Excellence! The President of Western Connecticut State University in Danbury personally wrote Professor Ducey with the news of this honor which will be presented September 14th at the university's big Kick-off Celebration. In President James Roach's own words, "you were chosen to receive this university award during a careful selection process by our Outstanding Alumni Nominating Committee. In our everyday lives, most of us make countless quiet contributions in our fields and to our communitites. This award is a public acknowledgement of your outstanding achievements and contributions to society."
The Centennial Award of Excellence is a once-in-a-century recognition for distinguished graduates. Professor Ducey's fifteen-year tenure at TU was strong support for the nomination. For a bio of Professor Ducey at the time he received his fifteen year recognition just this May, click HERE .
As a history major at "WestConn," Rick was the president of the campus's history organization, Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society, Inc., leading the chapter to receive the best in the country award that year. While in college he was involved in local politics and was elected as a Justice of the Peace in New Milford, Connecticut, his hometown. WestConn is part of the Connecticut State University System, enrolling over 33,000 students. We won't even guess at the number of students WestConn alone has graduated over this Centennial time span, so the competition was indeed very keen for the honor Professor Ducey has received. Again, CONGRATULATIONS!
