Law Curriculum for the 21st Century

Three Centers of Excellence

Comparative and International Law and Certificate Program

Summer and semester abroad programs ensure that you will learn about the interaction of national and international economies, business, politics and the law.

National Energy-Environment Law and Policy Institute and Certificate Program

You will learn how to strike a balance between material abundance and environmental protection through teaching, research, scholarship, publications and effective communication about energy and the environment.

Native American Law Center and Certificate Program

You will learn about the unique problems of the tribes and their members. You will also be trained in appropriate methods to resolve disputes before they become irreconcilable.

    Students work with doctors, hospital administrators, scientists, and lawyers in developing ideas to cope with the management and ethical problems which surround delivery of health care.

  • Public Policy and Regulation Certificate

    You learn about the changing regulatory environment, moving from a national and rigid policy to one based more on analysis of local costs, risks, and benefits.

  • Lawyering Skills Certificate

    Provides you with the skills and guidance you need to ensure you have been properly trained for practice as a solo practitioner or with a small firm. Provides a solid foundation for general practitioners.

  • You will acquire skills in an array of dispute resolution processes, including negotiation, mediation, and arbitration

Tulsa law students have the opportunity to gain practical experience through legal and judicial internships as well as in the College's legal clinic. Student Law Journals

  • Energy Law Journal, a joint project of NELPI and the Energy Bar Association, has a circulation of over 2,400 and about 150 foreign subscriptions.
  • Tulsa Journal of Comparative & International Law focuses on topics ranging from international commerce to human rights issues to international energy and environmental law.
  • Tulsa Law Review, the official general-interest publication of the College of Law, is a quarterly publication that features articles of interest to legal practitioners and scholars. Its annual Mineral Law Symposium is used as a source for mineral law articles by WESTLAW legal research service.

Career Services Assistance

A law school should help its students and graduates achieve their career goals.

Tulsa's Office of Career Services provides you with individual career counseling, while you are a student and after you graduate. Alumni share their experience and wisdom during career-oriented programs, sponsored by the Office of Career Services. Under the guidance of the Office of Career Services, you may attend fall and spring on-campus interviews, have your résumé updated, and be informed of regional and national job fairs.
